After a two-week holiday in the Maldives with his family, Federer is already back to work preparing for the 2018 season.

The 36-year-old will begin his campaign at the Hopman Cup in Perth again before moving to Melbourne and Australian Open.

But Federer is currently in Dubai practising and Auger-Aliassime has joined him after receiving an invite.

The 17-year-old is viewed as one of the brightest prospects in Canadian tennis after a breakthrough year on the Challenger Tour in 2017.

It’s always great to learn from the best and it’s motivating to compare yourself to the top players in the world

Auger-Aliassime became the seventh youngest player to win a Challenger title when he won in Lyon in June and he won his second title in Seville to break into the world’s top 200.

Federer has been Auger-Aliassime’s idol growing up and youngster says he is determined to take advantage of the opportunity he’s been given.

“I have a lot of things to work on. It’s always great to learn from the best and it’s motivating to compare yourself to the top players in the world,” Auger-Aliassime said.

“It’s an opportunity I have to take advantage of, but the most important thing is that I have to prepare myself for the upcoming season.

“I admire everything he does on and off the court and the person that he is.

“It will be a good chance for me and my coaches to learn from what he does to have been so good for so long.”
