The Scottish actress, best known for playing Amy Pond in the BBC science fiction series Doctor Who, is now the lead actress in movie Jumanji alongside Hollywood’s highest-paid and sexiest actor Dwayne Johnson.

Speaking to Day & Night at the glittering premiere in London’s Leicester Square about her rise from the Scottish Highlands to Tinsel Town, she admits: “This is definitely not something I saw coming back in the day.” 

The 30-year-old, who since leaving the BBC TV show in 2013 has also gone on to star in box office hit Guardians Of The Galaxy, added: “I remember when I was shooting the kissing scene and Dwayne had just been voted the sexiest man alive and I was like, ‘Someone’s got to do it!’” 

Karen’s other co-stars in the “reimagining” of the 1995 classic movie – which featured late actor Robin Williams – include top comedians Jack Black and Kevin Hart.   

“It’s an honour. 

“I don’t say that lightly. 

“We all feel that way,” added Dwayne, 45, of appearing in the film. 

“The first film is a beloved title and we had a great time remaking it.  

“And we truly think this is something that would make Robin proud. 

“Robin influenced us tremendously – and his family as well.”

MEL B has hit out at her estranged husband after he asked their divorce judge to punish her.  

The former Spice Girl agreed to pay Stephen Belafonte £4.9million as part of a divorce deal reached last month but he says she has been late with payments and wants the judge to penalise her. 

Mel’s lawyer says Stephen is being “vexatious” as while payments were late she has since sent him cheques for both November and December. 

The judge has yet to rule on this new dispute. 

Mel, 42, ended their almost 10-year marriage in March and agreed she would pay Stephen the sum over a three-year period.  

In exchange Stephen agreed to destroy explicit videos of them. 

The pair will share joint legal custody of their daughter Madison, six.

CLAIRE FOY is nervous that the Queen will tune into the second, more controversial series of hit drama The Crown.  

The Netflix show, which returned to our screens yesterday, will show Elizabeth II and husband Prince Philip’s life in the 1960s when rumours surfaced that he was unfaithful. 

Claire, who won a Golden Globe for her portrayal of the monarch in the first series, says: “It’s beyond my wildest fears that the Queen would see it. 

“I don’t like the idea that she watches it.” 

And it appears the 33-year-old got no crumb of comfort from co-star Matt Smith who plays Prince Philip.  

“I don’t think Philip watches the show... but I like to think the Queen does,” he said.

MERYL STREEP is making sure gender equality will be non-negotiable in the near future.  

“I’m getting together with a bunch of actresses and we are going to make a set of non-negotiable demands,” says the Oscar winner. 

“We’re after 50/50 by 2020.” 

The 68-year-old insists it is currently a case of “like hires like”. 

“White hires white,” she says plainly. 

“A guy who wears his baseball cap backwards hires a guy who wears his baseball cap backwards. 

“We have to encourage the people who are currently in power, those who are of one gender, to open the door.”
