ABU DHABI: The Zayed Volunteer Camp, part of Zayed Giving Convoys, has concluded medical operations in Uganda after providing consultation, diagnostic and treatment services to more than 3,000 children and elderly people across the African nation’s underprivileged villages and shanty areas.

A number of Emirati and Ugandan youth participated in rendering the noble medical services which come in harmony with the directives of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan and within the context of a joint programme by the Zayed Giving Initiative, Dar Al Ber Society, the Sharjah Charity House and the Saudi-German Hospitals.

Under the initiative, the Zayed Volunteer Camp offered valuable services as part of a joint UAE-Ugandan programme which has been ongoing for around one year and included medical convoys and mobile clinics that provided assistance to around 10,000 patients from different Ugandan villages.

Emirati heart surgeon, Dr. Adel Al Shamri, hailed the achievements made through the camp whose beneficiaries, he said, bring to seven million the number of patients who benefited from the Zayed Giving Convoys, around the world.

For his part, Abdullah Ali Bin Zayed Al Falasi, Executive Director of Dar Al Ber, commended the quality services provided by the camp, noting that Zayed Giving Convoys will set up a number of medical camps across Ugandan villages in 2018.

“The UAE is a role model for charity work thanks to the directives of the Sheikh Khalifa, Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and His Highness Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces,” said Sultan Al Khayal, Secretary-General of Sharjah Charity House.
