Noida: Following an order by the National Green Tribunal, two more hot mix plants running illegally in sectors 142 and 143 have been shut down by Noida Authority.
The NGT had observed that the plants would not be allowed to operate until they secure necessary permissions to commence mixing at present sites.
The tribunal has been hearing a petition filed by residents of sectors 74 and 76 who had filed an appeal in October regarding non-compliance of pollution control norms at construction sites by builders.
A principal bench headed by Justice Swatanter Kumar had ordered the closure of these hot mix plants on the basis of visual evidence annexed by applicants with the NGT in an earlier hearing. The tribunal also demanded the Authority's explanation on how mixing plants were allowed in the city despite being banned by the court in an order of August 2015.
Commenting on the courts observation and future action by the Authority, Rajesh Kumar Singh, officer on special duty, Noida Authority said, "The case has been heard and the orders would be executed as disposed."
