Pimpri Chinchwad: A month-wise plan has been sought for the implementation of water supply scheme with pressure under Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (Amrut).

PCMC standing committee chairperson Seema Savale and municipal commissioner Shravan Hardikar said the plan should also focus on the reduction of non-revenue water and improving water supply in the areas of Wakad, Thergaon, Pimple Gurav, Pimple Nilakh, Punavale and Rahatani.

"Once an agreement is signed for the work, the water supply department should give the exact date for starting and completion of the work. The department should also give base maps to the corporators," Savale said, adding that Ravindra Dudhekar, the joint city engineer and in-charge of the water supply department, should start the work by December 15.

Savale said the engineering and water supply departments should coordinate with the work. "If any corporator or office-bearer disrupts the work, a police complaint should be filed against such person by the civic administration," Savale added.

A private construction agency has been appointed for the work with an estimated cost of Rs 61.21 crore. Hardikar said SCADA's authentic patent should be received for the work. "The work is complicated and should be carried out in each lane and bylane," he said.

The civic body is also planning to reduce losses it incurs due to non-revenue water, (NRW) which is caused by pipeline bursts and water thefts. The service level benchmark for non-revenue water is 20%.

When contacted, civic officials said water pipelines connecting the households to the nearest pipeline will be changed if there are leakages or complaints of contaminated supply.
