Twenty per cent of students getting admissions to Class-I don't reach Class-VIII and 30 per cent of them don't reach up to Class-X in Odisha.
This was revealed from the information furnished by School and Mass Education Minister Badri Narayan Patra in the State Assembly in response to a question of BJP MLA Dilip Ray on Thursday.
According to the data, a total of 8,78,961 children had got admissions to Class-I in the year 2007-08, but of them, 6,98,267 (20.56%) continued study in Class-VIII in 2014-15 and 6,13,683 (30.18%) studied in Class-X in 2016-17.
The Minister furnished this information on the basis of the U-DISE survey.
