Tirupur: Unnecessary complications experienced in GST refund claiming has irked the knitwear industrialists in the district.
With the GST refund yet to reach for the first time, the industrialists were facing complications in filing for the refund claim in GST online portal.
Recently, the union government has provided the provision for the GST refund on the website. The industrialists could update details about the GST payments they made and seek the refund.
The Tirupur Exporters Association on Friday organised a special meeting, in which both central and state commercial tax department officials including Assistant Commissioner (Central) N Subramanian and Deputy Commissioner (State) B Kanjana addressed the grievances faced by the industrialists in the GST refund filing.
"The website was carrying few norms which weren't even prescribed in the GST Act. This makes further delay in getting the GST refund. Due to such complications, the industrialists may not get the refund forever," S Dhanajayan, one of Chartered Accountants who were a part of the event said.
"We are already facing working capital stagnation, if the GST refund could not be given even after six-seven months since the GST implementation; it would be like 'rubbing salt in the wound'. Moreover, the verification of GST refund filing should be automated.
Otherwise, the government's promise of providing the refund within seven days could not be achieved," T R Vijayakumar, General Secretary of TEA said.
