Jaipur: The Rajsamand police investigating the 'hate' murder case involving Shambulal Raigar on Friday have not ruled out the possibility of others who may have brainwashed the jobless accused to commit the murder.

Police have taken Shambulal's mobile phone, used by him for networking on social media, for further examination and analysis by the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL).

38-year-old Shambulal has been taken into three-day police custody. They will now verify all the claims made by the accused in five different videos, including the one showing the murder of Afrazul.

"He has claimed that he is against the community to which the deceased belonged and that's why he eliminated him. But all his claims will be verified during interrogation. There could be a possibility that he was not radicalised on his own but was brainwashed by one individual or a group of persons to commit the murder. All these things need to be verified," said Udaipur inspector general (IG) Anand Srivastav.

"Whatever he did requires a lot of planning. We need to find out since when he has been planning the murder and if there were others who were a part of the criminal conspiracy," Srivastav said.

Police have recovered and analysed some of his WhatsApp group messages in which he has stated that he would do something that would make him famous. "We will also try to find out if he has been lured by money or some other favour in lieu of executing this crime," said a senior officer who is part of the investigation.

On Wednesday, the accused had brutally killed Afrazul (49) while his minor nephew shot the murder live on video.
