Barcelona are planning a huge summer spending spree despite currently cruising in La Liga and the Champions League so far.

The Catalan giants are on course to win the league, sitting eight points above defending champions Real Madrid, while they are also dreaming of a first European title since the days of Luis Enrique back in 2015.

Barcelona are desperate to strengthen the squad, with the club’s coffers bursting from Neymar’s £200million move to PSG back in August.

And Diario Gol claim that, while Messi has approved two of Valverde’s three potential deals, it is the signing of Antoine Griezmann that has not sat well with Barcelona’s main man.

Griezmann has emerged as a priority target in the wake of Luis Suarez’s struggles.

Suarez has long been regarded as one of the best forwards in world football, having blossomed at Ajax, Liverpool and Barcelona over the years.

But, having found the net just five times this season, the signs suggest he may be on the wane.

Messi, however, wants the club to keep faith with Suarez despite his current struggles.

The ex-Liverpool hitman is close friends with Messi on and off the pitch and Barcelona’s main man does not want anything to jeopardise his team-mates’ future.

But Diario Gol say Valverde’s two other transfer plans have pleased Messi.

The 30-year-old is supposedly backing their bid to sign Liverpool ace Philippe Coutinho.

And he is also happy for Barcelona to sign a replacement for Javier Mascherano.

Mascherano is expected to call time on his Nou Camp career when the transfer window reopens next month.

Barca are already seeking cover for Samuel Umtiti, who faces two months out after being injured last weekend.

And Valverde is said to be keen to sign one of either Aymeric Laporte or Inigo Martinez as his replacement.
