It’s time the EU experienced Theresa May’s ‘difficult’ side - EXPRESS COMMENT
THE Prime Minister is doing a stalwart job under extremely difficult circumstances, but the MPs urging Mrs May to get tough in her negotiations with Brussels are absolutely right.
GETTY
It is clear that the EU wishes to extract every drop of blood out of us that they can, punish us for our presumption in leaving their bureaucratically bloated institution and delay matters in every way possible in an attempt to get us to cough up further billions of pounds.
It will not do.
The Prime Minister has been courteous in her dealings with the political pygmies and has negotiated her way through one unseen pitfall after another, the latest being the border with Ireland.
After a nightmarish period her personal ratings remain strong: the public clearly respects this principled woman who, unlike anyone at all on the other side of the House is doing her job with a sense of duty about what is right for the UK.
GETTY
But as she herself conceded, she can be a “bloody difficult woman”.
It is time she allowed Brussels to see that.
The country’s patience has been pushed to breaking point; no doubt so has Mrs May’s.
If Mr Juncker and co refuse to take trade talks further then walk away, Mrs May.
GETTY
You will have the backing of the majority of the country if you do.

SO MOMENTUM, the grass-roots group leading the personality cult behind Jeremy Corbyn, is to be probed over its election expenses.
GETTY
Unlike members of Momentum, we believe in the presumption of innocence until proven guilty, so we will content ourselves with saying that we will defer comment on that issue until the result of the investigation is in.
But Momentum has not distinguished itself in any other way.
It is one of the ugliest movements in modern British politics, motivated by class hatred, employing the most disgusting tactics in an attempt to intimidate its opponents and behaving in a truly repellant way towards those with whom it disagrees.
The Labour Party was founded by decent men who cared about the good of the people.
GETTY
When they see what it has descended to they must be spinning in their graves.

CHRISTMAS is a stressful time for many of us, above all the reindeer charged with pulling Santa’s sleigh.
Pity then poor Dasher who has been so overcome with the responsibility that he damaged his sciatic nerve and now needs physiotherapy.
Let’s hope he’s back on form for the big day.
