Dimapur, Dec. 8 (EMN): Vihokhu village football team lifted the 19th edition of Zhuikhu M.B.E Memorial Football Gold Cup defeating Nihoto Football Club 3-1 via tie-breaker in a keenly contested final played at Khaghaboto town on Friday.
The tournament was organised by Western Sumi Sports Association and hosted by Khaghaboto Area Sports Association.
Z. Kasheto Yeptho, Class I Contractor witnessed the final match as the guest of honour at the closing function of the meet and handed over the running trophy along with a cheque of INR. 70,000 to the champions.
Nihoto walked away with a cash award of INR. 50,000 and trophy while the two losing semi finalists Hovishe and Shoxuvi recieved INR. 15,000 each.
In his speech, Kasheto congratulated the winning team with a reminder not to disrespect the losing side but to encourage one another to lift the spirit and the standard of the game and, also encouraged the losing team to be positive attitude of the fact that they can perform better in the days to come.
Apart from football, WSSA also conducted badminton and volleyball tournaments both in men’s and women’s categories.
Khevishe Achumi, vice president, Western Sumi Hoho was the patron of volleyball event.

Best player – Ghunaka of Vihokhu.
Best goalkeeper – Homka of Vihokhu.
Joint highest scorer – Inito of Nihoto and Aben of Vihokhu.

Best player – Kito Zhimo of Hezulho
Volleyball women
Champion – Hezulho team
Runner-up – Hozukhe team
Best player – Kivikali Wotsa of Xekiye
Badminton men

Runner-up – Pukhato team
Best player – Kitoka of HASSA
Badminton women
Champion – Nikhekhu team
Runner-up – Vihokhu team
Best player – Ayeli of Vishiyi
