On a night when Real Madrid’s star forward Cristiano Ronaldo equalled arch-rival Lionel Messi’s tally of five Ballon D’Or titles, club President Florentino Perez wasted no time in inviting Brazilian forward Neymar to the Santiago Bernabeu.
Perez, who placed Ronaldo on the same plane as Real Madrid legend Alfredo di Stefano, said that it would be easier to win the coveted Ballon D’Or in Madrid.
"Being in Madrid would make it easier to win the Ballon d'Or," he admitted when asked of Neymar. "Real Madrid is a club which gives all you need as a big player, everyone knows that I already wanted to sign him at one point."
In recent months there have been rumors that the world’s most expensive footballer Neymar is unhappy at Paris Saint Germain and according to his father, could look to move back to Spain in the near future.
At the moment though, Perez will have to be content with only Ronaldo, who along with Messi is breaking goal scoring records for fun.
"He lives for football, he wants to be the best of all time and he does it not only with his talent but with his work, he's a role model."
Ronaldo has won four Ballon d'Or awards as a Real Madrid player, while he won another one during his time at Manchester United.
