Manchester United fans single out player for transfer after official club tweet turns sour

MANCHESTER UNITED tried their best to celebrate Henrikh Mkhitaryan this morning - but it ended in disaster.

The club tweeted a picture of Mkhitaryan scoring in the Europa League and wrote: “.@HenrikhMkh struck his first #MUFC goal on this day last year…”

But it has gone down badly with United fans who are angry with the Armenian’s performances.

He has slipped way down the pecking order at Old Trafford having been dropped from five of the last six matches.

Jose Mourinho did not even include Mkhitaryan in the travelling squad for last week's games at Watford and Arsenal.

Scores of fans rushed to reply to the official @ManUtd page with one writing: “He needs to be brought back to life.”

Another said “he hasn't been seen since” while a fellow supporter questioned “is he still employed?”

One posted reasoned: “Consistency has always been his problem. Too bad he plays for a manager who does not care about player development.”

While others accused Mkhitaryan of “stealing a living” with one brutally writing: “shame hes suddenly turned to s**t.”

Others demanded the midfielder is shown with the door with the club being told to “sell him” by many posters.

One upset Manchester United supporter even took to tweeting Borussia Dortmund to complaining about the deal. They wrote: “@bdortmund selling a fake to us first kagawa now this guy.”

Discussing why Mkhitaryan was out the frame last month, Mourinho said: “I was not happy with his last performances. I’m not speaking about one or two, I’m speaking about three, four or five.

“He started the season very well and after that, step by step, he was disappearing.

“His performance levels in terms of goal scoring and assists, high pressing, recovering the ball high up the pitch, bringing the team with him as a No.10, were decreasing step by step.

“That was enough because the others worked to have a chance. Everybody works to have a chance. It’s as simple as that.”
