Muri Express stopped midway

ALLAHABAD: Train number 18101, Muri Express, going from Tatanagar to Jammu Tawi was stopped at Sirathu station of Allahabad division under North Central Railway (NCR) at around 12 noon, on Friday. The train was stopped on an information that there is a suspicious object at the toilet of a general coach at the rear end of the train.


Some of the passengers of the general coach informed the guard of the train RK Gupta that they are seen some suspicious looking item, could be a bomb, in the toilet of one of the general coach, next to the bogie of guard. They also informed that they had seen 3 people jumping from the moving train as soon as the train had left Allahabad station. On getting the information the train was stopped at Sirathu station at 11:50am.


On getting the information, GRP and RPF jawans reached the station and immediately asked are all the passengers to leave the coaches. Both the general coaches and the one of guard and sealed after being evacuated. The train departed for its onward journey at around 1 noon.


As per CPRO, NCR, GK Bansal, "when the guard was informed about the suspicious packet rapped with tape, the three coaches were detached and the train left for Fetehpur. Dog squad from Kanpur and Bomb Disposal Squad from Fetehpur have reached the station and are investigating". Authorities, following the standard protocol detached the coaches and the passengers shifted to other coaches, he added.
