ABU DHABI, 7th December, 2017 (WAM) -- Dr. Hamad Saif Al Shamsi, UAE Attorney-General, confirmed that the initiative to establish a specialised prosecution for the enforcement of judicial decisions is based on the philosophy of justice and ensuring everyone's rights, which will benefit the community and improve its stability.
He added that this step will strengthen the rule of law through a powerful and efficient judicial system, which will enhance national security and protect the rights and freedoms of individuals and institutions; noting that the specialisation principle contributes to the realisation of the state's strategy and its 2021 vision including the goal of ensuring the rule of law.
Sultan bin Saeed Al Badi Al Dhaheri, Minister of Justice, has issued Ministerial Resolution No.1093 for 2017 to establish a prosecution service to implement penal rulings, under the direct supervision of Dr. Al Shamsi, in all national federal prosecution departments, which include specialist judicial and administrative personnel. The resolution aims to guarantee the implementation of rulings over a shorter period and cooperation with all relevant authorities, to overcome any obstacles facing its implementation.
The specialised prosecution will manage the implementation of penal sentences issued by federal courts, such as various degrees of penalties that restrict freedoms, or financial and judicial fines, as well as the supervision of death sentences according to the provisions of the Islamic Sharia and the secular law, and the inspection of punitive facilities and juvenile care facilities, along with making decisions on how to implement these rulings.
