Margao: Margao town police on Friday arrested Sanjiv Jha, 43, a native of Jharkhand, on charges of illegally running a training institute of hotel management courses at Khareband, Margao, after conducting a raid on the premises.
Police acted upon a complaint lodged by a 19-year old Margao-based student who had enrolled for a bakery course in the Indian Training Institute run by Jha.
However, the student realized that neither did the the institute have valid recognition nor was it affiliated to any recognized university or board for offering hotel management courses.
When he questioned Jha, the student was intimidated, police sources informed.
Jha was arrested under various sections of the Indian Penal Code including sections 420, 506, 342, 468 and 471.
