Alwar: The post-mortem of Talim Khan, who was shot dead in a shootout with the police on Thursday, could not be done due to doctor's strike on Friday.
"A medical examination is proposed on Saturday. We could not proceed with the post-mortem of Khan's body due to an unexpected strike," SP Rahul Praksh informed TOI.
Talking to reporters about the shootout, minister Hem Singh Bhadana, who is a BJP MLA from Alwar's Thanagaji, on Friday said Rajasthan police did a 'historic work' as cow smugglers and criminals were shot dead.
Ramzan Chouhadry, a Meo leader from Haryana has demanded that for a free and fair probe into the shootout the investigation shifted outside Alwar. "A case should be filed against people who killed Talim Khan. Probe should be shifted outside Alwar district because such cases are taking place regularly in this city," he said, adding that compensation should be given to the family.
Talim Khan (22), a resident of Nuh village in Alwar, was accused by police of smuggling cows along with his five other accomplices and firing at the police teams. The encounter was latest in growing list of violent clashes involving cow protection and smuggling in Alwar district.
Sources in Alwar police claimed that getaway vehicle used by Khan and his accomplices belonged to one Jabbar Khan from Haryana. "The chassis numbers and markings over the engine were removed. We suspect it was a stolen vehicle," an official said.
The police are scanning through the mobile data of Khan to trace the locations of the people who had accompanied him that day. "We are checking information about the people he had spoken to. Once we are able to track the drive of the mini truck, we will be able to identify other accomplices," the official said.
The police on Thursday had claimed that Khan was shot dead in retaliatory firing by the police. "He was part of a gang that picked up stray cattle from streets and smuggled them across the border into Haryana. The mini truck was first located by a mobile patrolling unit near Moti Dungri area at 2 am while they were loading cows. But the smugglers fired at us and fled," SP said.
While a probe has been ordered by CID-CB, the relatives of Khan have asked a probe from former judicial officer.
