SA football coaches always get the blame - De Sa

2017-12-08 21:55

Cape Town - Platinum Stars mentor Roger De Sa believes coaches in South Africa are too quickly blamed when results are not going their way.

De Sa's Dikwena side face Kaizer Chiefs at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium on Saturday (18:00), with Chiefs coach Steve Komphela feeling the heat after his side failed to win any of their last five league outings.

The former Orlando Pirates coach feels the pressure Absa Premiership coaches come under is unwarranted.

"The coach will always be the fall guy. We put too much emphasis on one man. It's nobody's divine right to win games every time," he told the Sowetan.

De Sa is expecting a tough game against Amakhosi, although he is hopeful that the Glamour Boys' need for victory could play into Stars' hands.

"I think Chiefs will bring the game to us but that also means they will open up and give us a chance to go at them," he explained.

"I expect a hungry team desperate to bounce back. There is never a best time to face Chiefs, whether they are from a win or a loss, they are still a dangerous team.

"Their form is not as bad as people make it out to be. Two wins and they will be back at the top of the table."

Dikwena are undefeated in their last six matches which has seen them climb out of the relegation zone and up to 13th spot.
