The Experience to benefit Percy Junor

GT Sounds and Glacia Robinson, organisers of The Experience, will give part proceeds of the Manchester leg of the gospel concert to the Percy Junor Hospital.

The hospital was started by one man's benevolence, Percival Junor, a businessman, financier, and philanthropist, in combination with the then government in 1945.

The institution has provided solace for those who are in need of medical assistance.

Fast-forward to 2017, and there is a concerted effort to smile on the hospital. Robinson, at one point, benefitted from the tender administration of the hospital staff during a dark period in her life when she was gravely ill for five and a half years.

Now recovered from her illness, Robinson has decided that it is time for her to come back to Jamaica after 19 years, and what better way to herald that return than by giving back to the hospital.

Part proceeds from this year's staging of the event in Manchester will be used to donate much-needed items to the hospital's paediatric arm.

While in Jamaica, Robinson will be visiting various hospitals, ministering to the sick to offer them hope through her own experience.

Geoffrey Thomas of GT Sounds said it is a fitting way to reach out to the hospital in that fashion.

"I immediately jumped at the chance when Glacia stated her desire. The concert is more than just ministering to the spiritual man. What better way to show we care than reaching out to help ensure the caregiver is well equipped," he said.

The Experience - I Rise edition is in its second year and has seen another leg added to it. The first staging will be on Boxing Day at the Manchester High School, featuring Robinson and acts like Kevin Downswell and Prodigal Son.

The second leg is on December 30 at the Spanish Town Prison Oval in St Catherine, again with Robinson and other artistes, including Rondell Positive.
