Thane: A 16-year-old girl from Bangladesh was rescued by the anti-human trafficking cell on Wednesday. Two persons, one of whom is her maternal uncle, were arrested for trying to sell the minor girl for Rs 75,000.

The accused have been identified as Lian Mulla and the girl's uncle Shehag Islam. The police claimed that the girl was infatuated with Mulla who promised to marry her. She had eloped with him to get married.

However, after crossing the Bangladesh border Mulla took the girl to Bangalore to one of his aunt, who is a pimp. "The girl was then repeatedly raped by the accused after which he forced her into prostitution," said a police officer.

The accused then decided to bring her to Kalwa and see her off. The cops had received a tip-off and had laid a trap for them. The accused were arrested and a case has been registered under various sections of the prevention of children from sexual abuse act and Foreigners Act, 1946, as well as passport (Entry into India) Rule, 1950.
