Area music students selected for All-State ensembles

Fifty-one students from the Sarasota area have been selected for one of 22 All-State music ensembles and will be featured in concerts at the Tampa Convention Center during the Florida Music Education Association convention in January.

The association announced that nearly 10,000 music students from across the state auditioned for the ensembles which include choral, band, orchestra and guitar on elementary, middle and high school levels. Of those who auditioned, 2,384 were selected for the different ensembles, including the 51 from the Sarasota area.

“Participating in an All-State ensemble offers an extraordinary opportunity for students to collaborate and perform with peers from other regions of the state,” said Dr. Kathleen D. Sanz, executive director of the association. “They develop relationships with other students that may not have been afforded them in other settings.

There are 14 different concerts planned during the Jan. 11-13. For more information, visit floridamusiceducation.org.
