+2 students to get 15 mins more for Biology

The two Science subjects, Zoology and Botany, have been taken as one subject named Biology for Plus Two Science stream and, accordingly, Second Year students would appear for Biology in one sitting during the upcoming CHSE Examination 2018.

School and Mass Education Minister Badri Narayan Patra informed this in the State Assembly in response to a question of Congress MLA Kailash Chandra Kulesika on Thursday. He said the Government has no plan to change the examination pattern fixed for the upcoming CHSE Examination. According to the decision of the State Government, the Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE) has adopted a syllabus on the lines of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) for Plus Two students. According to the new pattern, Botany and Zoology have been taken as a single subject named Biology. The Odisha State Bureau of Textbook Preparation and Production has published a unitary textbook for the subject of Biology.

The Minister informed that only about 50 students belonging to two colleges in the State capital had opposed the unitary pattern for Botany and Zoology and no other student in any part of the State protested it.

However, he informed that the number multiple choice questions (MCQs) would be reduced and limited words would be set for long questions considering student’s interest. Accordingly, the question papwers are being prepared he said.

The students would get 15 minutes more time for the 70-mark Biology Subject over and above normal three hours examination period, the Minister said.
