Liverpool news: Rio Ferdinand backs Philippe Coutinho for £140million Barcelona transfer
LIVERPOOL star Philippe Coutinho IS worth the transfer fees being banded about amid interest from Spanish giants Barcelona.
That is the opinion of BT Sport pundit and former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand.
Coutinho was linked with a move to Barcelona in the summer but Liverpool rejected several bids for the Brazilian.
He was keen on a move but the Reds would not budge despite offers above £100million.
Coutinho has been in stunning form of late for Liverpool and bagged a hat-trick in the 7-0 Champions League demolition of Spartak Moscow last night.

Barca are still in the hunt for the 25-year-old ahead of the January transfer window opening in just over three weeks.
And Ferdinand believes Philippe Coutinho has proved he is worth up towards £140million.
“When they were talking about the fee which was being muted about for him if Barcelona or etc were going to try and buy him, £130-£140million, the only thing you would say is ‘is he going to get enough goals to warrant that?’,” he said.
“In this form, it suggests yes.

“He is the manipulator, he gets things going, everything goes through him in terms of going forward and the creativity in this team.
“He’s a fantastic footballer, great brain.”
