DUBAI: A man who knifed his friend 35 times, walked to a police station’s gate and shouted confessions must see out his 25-year-jail term, a court ruled on Wednesday.

The unemployed Asian man, 23, murdered his countryman, 20s, in Satwa on Mar.15.2014, prosecutors revealed at the Criminal Court on Oct.28.2014.  The reason he slayed him remained unknown.

On May 3, 2016 the court ordered prosecutors to probe the case afresh. He was sued on June.29.2016. Prosecutors demanded a tough penalty. The court on April 30 jailed him for life plus deportation.

During an Appeals Court hearing on Sept.13 he denied the premeditated murder charge and sought to be acquitted. Prosecutors asked the court to dismiss his plea. The court on Wednesday upheld his penalty.

He was among four prisoners who broke out of the Dubai Central jail on Jul.7.2016 before police teams could intercept them in a desert. Over this jailbreak the Criminal Court jailed them for three years.

A Yemeni corporal said he was at the Bur Dubai Police Station’s gate when the defendant showed up in blood-drenched clothes screaming hysterically that “I killed my friend. I killed my friend!” until he was detained.

He directed the corporal to the crime scene. An Emirati lieutenant said, “I found the body in a pool of blood inside a blood-stained corridor on the building’s second floor. It had wounds on the back of the head.”

The victim’s brother, a visitor, 33, said, “I was in Iran when the defendant contacted to notify me he had killed my brother and that he was expecting someone to pursue him and kill him in revenge.

“He asked me to come to the UAE to discuss the matter. I arrived four days later and met him at his detention ward in Bur Dubai. I asked him why he killed my brother but he did not tell me. He started regretting.”

An Egyptian forensic doctor who examined the multiple deep stab wounds in the deceased’s entrails, head, neck and chest concluded that the defendant was determined to kill. The defendant also had wounds on his arms.
