Liverpool news: Alberto Moreno issues injury update amid Jurgen Klopp fears
ALBERTO MORENO says he hopes to return from injury soon after breaking down in tears as he was substituted in Liverpool’s thumping win over Spartak Moscow.
Moreno has bounced back impressively this season after playing second fiddle to James Milner for much of last term but the Spain left-back is set for a spell on the sidelines after he was forced off with a knock before half-time at Anfield.
Moreno was tearful as he walked down the tunnel and was replaced by Milner.
But the 25-year-old appeared more upbeat on social media as he celebrated Liverpool’s qualification for the Champions League knockout stages.
In an emoji-filled tweeted, Moreno said: “What a night at Anfield.

In the treatment room he was a little bit more positive, so maybe we are lucky and it’s not too serious

“Thanks to all the fans for the massive support tonight. I hope to back soon and stronger.”
After the match, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp said he was hoping for some luck regarding Moreno’s injury.
“We came to a little shadow of the night that Alberto needed to get substituted,” he said.

“It was a strange situation. He’s a tough guy: if he cannot continue the game then we should consider it could be something serious.
“In the treatment room he was a little bit more positive, so maybe we are lucky and it’s not too serious. We will see.
“Because we need all the boys for the next few weeks, but especially this week, for the game on Sunday.”
