81 DU students get Dean’s Award

Eighty-one meritorious students from 10 departments under Faculty of Biological Sciences at Dhaka University (DU) have been conferred on ‘Dean’s Award’ for their excellent academic results in Bachelor of Science (Honours) examinations for the session 2015-16.

Of the award recipients, 24 are male and 57 female students.  

Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Professor Md. Akhtaruzzaman distributed the award among the brilliant students at a function held at Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban on Wednesday.
 
The awardees are: Zuairia Binte Jashim, Umma Haney Pinke, Md. Shiful Islam, Jahan-E-Gulshan, Sharmin Akter, Affifan Nozmu, Shamima Jahan, S. M. Jahid Anwar and Aujeeta Shehrin Razzaque from Soil, Water and Environment dept, Sumaiya Tabassum, Masnun Homaira Maisha, Nishat Tasnim, Saila Kabir, Mst, Ayesha, Nadira Yesmin Jui, Maliha Mehnaz, Sumaiya Zannat, Arena Pervin, Md. Harun Ar Rashid, Rahima Khatun, Kazi Maharun Nessa, Atandrila Biswas, Sirajum Munira Hussaini, Sayma Binta Huda and Ashika Akhtar from Botany, Zannatun Nahar Jhinu, Md. Fazle Rabbe, Antara Sarker Adhri, Sadniman Rahman, Taniza Tabasshum, Sadia Afrin Shawrna, Syeda Anika Tasneem, Nasrin Akter Bristy, Md. Nazmul Hoque, Ayesha Akhter Zhilik, Fahmida Tasnim Liza, Shukla Howlader and Sanjida Sekender from Zoology dept.

The other recipients are : Bichitra Paul, Md. Hasib, Tasneem Ehsan and Mohammad Umer Sharif Shohan from Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Jakia Rahman from Psychology, Saika Hossain, Ishrat Jahan, Jannatul Rafeya, Sahitya Ranjan Biswas, Nigar Fatima, Farhana Boby, Dipok Kumer Shill, Md. Naeem Hossain, Md. Salman Zahir Uddin, Zarin Rushni, Shafina Jahan, Rehnuma Binte Kabir, Mafruha Marjia, Avirup Saha, Sushmita Basak, Romana Shermin, Nusrat Nabila Fariha, Jarin Tasnim, Rayeed Mohammed Ihsan, Lubna Jahan, Md. Raisul Islam Rabby, Prity Lata Chakraborty, Tania Sultana, Talal Hossain, Sharmistha Goswami and Sanjeeda Haider Nupur from Microbiology, Md. Al Zahid, Mst. Aziza Begum, Tanjila Akter Nipa and Farhana Mostafiz from Fisheries, Md. Mahmudul Hasan Akash, Md. Wahid Murad, Muhammad Salman, Nusrat Jahan Antora, Shibraj Chowdhury, Rizwan Mahmud, Zarif Hossain and Tahia Anan Rahman from Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology dept.

While distributing awards, the Vice-Chancellor called upon the students to prepare themselves with the combination of merit, patriotism, honesty and moral values.

He stressed the need for nurturing self-purification instead of criticising others. None should misuse power at any sphere of life, he added.
