At least 60 people in Florida contacted NASA about a flaming ball of light in the sky.
In video captured on a driver's dash cam, the fireball is shown falling near a road as it lights up the sky.
A family also recorded the astonishing sight on a security camera outside their house.

Now NASA has finally commented on the mystery.
A spokesman for the agency claimed that the ball was a flaming meteor or bolide – a ball of rock that explodes in the atmosphere.
According to NASA's website, fireballs are astronomical terms for bright meteors that are spectacular enough to be seen over a wide area.

The American Meteor Society says: "A bolide is a special type of fireball which explodes in a bright terminal flash at its end, often with visible fragmentation."
