4.15pm: The results are already underway and here is a rundown of those who have been revealed so far.
25th - Karim Benzema (Real Madrid), 24th - Radamel Falcao (Monaco), 23rd - Sadio Mane (Liverpool), 21st joint - Leonardo Bonucci (AC Milan) and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (Borussia Dortmund), 20th - David De Gea (Manchester United), 19th - Eden Hazard (Chelsea)
So Liverpool, Man Utd and Chelsea all feature in the top 25 but will there be any other Premier League representatives included?
3.40pm: A reminder there are several representatives on the shortlist from the Premier League.
N'Golo Kante, Eden Hazard, David De Gea, Philippe Coutinho, Sadio Mane and Kevin De Bruyne are all on the shortlist.
However, none of them are thought to be close to getting third place in the awards ceremony.
3pm: We're expecting the announcement of the 2017 player of the year at around 6.45pm.
David Ginola is host for the night in Paris as the world's top footballers decend on France.
Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi look to have first and second place in the voting nailed down.
But who could come in third?
Neymar will be a popular choice among the locals following his £198m move from Barcelona earlier this year.
His new team-mate Kylian Mbappe could also be in with a shout.
