Community members gather to honor and remember loved ones during the holiday season

WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. (PRWEB) December 07, 2017

Hospice of Westchester (HOW) recently hosted its 16th annual “Tree of Life” Reception at the Hilton Westchester in Rye Brook, N.Y.

Over the last few months, community members were invited to make a donation to HOW through the purchase of a gold star in memory or in honor of a loved one. During the event, which took place on November 29, guests and sponsors shared in the celebration of life by placing the personalized gold stars on the “Tree of Life.” The evening featured holiday entertainment provided by Manhattanville College’s elite pop vocal group, The Quintessentials. Lisa Sandagata, MA, MT-BC, Director of Outreach Services of Music Conservatory of Westchester, played piano for attendees prior to the start of the program.

“This is a very special time of year, and our ‘Tree of Life’ event presents an opportunity for members of the community to join with us to create a sense of family and love,” said Mary K. Spengler, MS, chief executive officer of HOW. “We are hopeful that it brings comfort to those families who have recently lost loved ones, or have a family member diagnosed with a life-limiting illness.”

The Grand Sponsors of the event was Beecher Flooks Funeral Home, Inc. and Patricia & Charles Trainor. Sponsors included AliGraphics; Co-Communications, Inc.; Cuddy & Feder LLP; Hilton Westchester; The Kensico Cemetery; PKF O’Connor Davies LLP; Polchinski Memorials, Inc.; Ross Mailing Services, Inc.; and Sterling National bank.

All proceeds from the event will benefit HOW’s mission of striving to provide extraordinary and dignified comfort, care and compassion to individuals and families facing a serious or life-limiting illness.
