Reader Letter: Use Christmas light money to build a mountain bike trail
Mountain biker Jonathan Gignac watches in dismay as the unauthorized stunt course in the Little River Corridor is demolished by a bulldozer on Nov. 23, 2017.
Re: Complainant fears revenge after bike trail demolished, by Dalson Chen, Nov. 24.
I really feel sorry for these bike riders. Here is a group of kids who don’t spend all day playing video games and texting, but had the ingenuity to go out and build themselves a mountain bike trail. All they wanted to do was have fun. They weren’t bothering anybody.
Now the city has bulldozed it. Mayor Drew Dilkens and council say it was a liability issue. All the city had to do was put up signs that read: “Ride at your own risk. The City of Windsor is not responsible for bike accidents or injuries.”
Instead of spending $2 million on Christmas lights at Jackson Park, the city should take part of that money and build these kids a new mountain bike trail.
