Former BASIC Bank Chairman Sheikh Abdul Hye Bachchu fell sick during his second day of interrogation over Tk 3500 crore loan scam.
The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) started quizzing him at its headquarters at Segunbagicha in the capital around 10:00am on Wednesday, said Pranab Kumar Bhattachariya, public relations officer of the ACC.
During interrogation, the former Basic Bank Chairman fell sick around 2:00pm and a doctor was summoned by the ACC for examining Bachchu's health. After a check-up, the ACC's team ended the interrogation.
After the interrogation, Bachchu left the ACC office at around 5:00pm.
The ACC on November, 23 summoned Bachchu and 10 former directors of the bank to its office for interrogation in scam cases involving around Tk 3,500 crore.
The move came over two years after the ACC filed 56 cases against bankers over the loan scam that took place in the state-run bank between 2010 and 2013.
According to an inquiry of Bangladesh Bank, about Tk 4,500 crore was swindled out from Basic Bank during six years while Sheikh Abdul Hye Bachhu served as its chairman.
