Coutinho handed in a transfer request this summer in hope of forcing through his dream move to the Nou Camp.
Barca made three bids for the Brazil international but Liverpool stood firm and kept hold of their key man.
However, former Nou Camp ace Fabregas has backed Coutinho to join Barca.
When asked about the Liverpool talisman, Fabregas told Catalan TV Station TV3: “I think he’s a great player.
“I see Barca’s style, the truth is that it has the level... From where I see it, he is more comfortable inside, but the good thing about this player is that he can play in various positions.
“Being versatile is also important.”
