Greater Noida: A 30-year-old man suffered burns when the car that he was driving suddenly caught fire at Surajpur in Greater Noida. Om Kumar, a resident of Sector 122 in Noida, works as a transporter in Noida.
According to the police, Kumar was going from Noida to Greater Noida for some work. "When he reached near the 130 metre road in Surajpur, suddenly the car started heating up and the doors got locked," said a police officer. He struggled to rescue himself when the car started burning. Some locals immediately reached the spot and rescued him. He was rushed to a private hospital where doctors said he received 50% burns.
A fire tender later reached the spot and doused the flames. Police said prima facie it seems the fire occurred due to a short circuit in the vehicle. Police have not received any complaint in this regard.
