Following an assessment by the general staff, the IDF has decided to reinforce troops in a number of battalions and accelerate intelligence collection in the West Bank Thursday following US President Donald Trump's recognition of Jerusalem as Israel's capital.
Earlier Wednesday, Hamas Politburo Chairman Ismail Haniyeh called for a third intifada.
Additional troops have also been placed on alert for possible developments.
