PIMS dean given national microbiology award

PUDUCHERRY: Dean of research and head of clinical microbiology of Pondicherry Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), Reba Kanungo, was given the Dr H I Jhala Memorial Award by the National Body of the Indian Association of Medical Microbiologists, recognising her contributions in the field of clinical microbiology and allied research activities for the past 35 years.


She received the award at the 41st annual conference of the association held at Rajendra Institute of Medical Science (RIMS), Ranchi, said a release.


Kanungo shared her knowledge and expertise with undergraduate and postgraduate students at Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (Jipmer), B P Koirala Institute of Health Sciences (BPKIHS) and Pims.


She holds membership in several academic committees and has published 113 research publications in peer-reviewed national and international journals. She specialises in antibiotic resistance in respiratory pathogens. tnn
