Coming down heavily on those officials found indulging in corrupt practices, a Railway Protection Force constable who was posted at New Delhi railway station was placed by Northern Railway authorities under suspension and a departmental inquiry was initiated against him after he was found in possession of excess cash vis-à-vis the amount that he had declared while reporting for duty as his personal money. Minister of Railways has been reiterating the need to uphold honesty in all facets of railway working.
Vishwesh Chaube, General Manager, has been repeatedly emphasising the need to bring about transparency in the working of Northern Railway and has issued directives to deal with those indulging in malpractices in a very strict manner. To drive home his point, he recently conducted a surprise inspection of catering arrangements in the pantry car and reservation status of passengers travelling by Dibrugarh Rajdhani and randomly checked the quality of food that was to be served to passengers of this train.
Reacting swiftly to a tweet by a rail passenger who had complained about ‘seat cornering’ by RPF, GRP and others in general coaches of Vaishali Express at New Delhi Railway Station, AN Mishra, Additional Chief Security Commissioner /RPF/NR himself conducted a surprise check at PF number 8 at the departure time of Vaishali Express. He reached the platform incognito so as to catch the alleged perpetrators of the crime red-handed. CCTV footage of both December 2 and 3 were scanned very closely by the above senior officer himself. The behaviour of said constable whose was found to be suspicious and while he was still on duty at the station was summoned by the officer.
