Bureaucrat pushes DG office clerk to death at police quarters in Bengaluru

BENGALURU: A bureaucrat allegedly killed a clerk working at the office of the Directorate General for Police by pushing him from the first floor of the police quarters at Nandini Layout following an argument. The deceased has been identified as Uday Kumar, a native of Maddur, Mandya district. 

According to a police official, the accused, Raju, was a section officer in the department at Vikas Soudha. He was staying at an NGO-owned guest house with his co-worker Vittal. When Vittal was allotted a house at the police quarters, he also invited Raju to stay with him. 

On Wednesday, Vittal invited Uday — whom he knew from work — to his house. Uday initially objected to the invitation saying the quarters were too small and there was not enough space for three people to sleep. However, he later agreed.

The three men drank alcohol for some time, following which Raju reportedly spoke rudely to the other two men for allowing Uday to stay in the house despite his objections. A heated argument ensued and Raju pushed Uday causing him to fall down the building. Raju was arrested by the police following the incident.
