BENGALURU: E-Learning has been of great help to children studying in government schools across the state. As a result, there are now plans to extend the initiative to 10,000 schools.

At an event organised in the city on Wednesday by SELCO Foundation, which is providing e-learning equipment to 1,000 schools across the state, a student said, “It is fun to learn through TV than textbooks.” Roopa K, a student of Government High School in Nagarabhavi, said, “I always found it difficult to learn mathematics. After they put up TVs in classrooms and the teachers started impa r t ing cl a s s e s through these TVs, I am understanding maths better with animations and videos.”

The equipment in these classrooms are solarpowered. The ‘eShala’ initiative is a project of Menda Foundation, SELCO Foundation and Children’s Lovecastles Trust. The schools have been equipped with LED screens and the syllabus is developed as per the government’s needs. There are plans to extend the initiative to 10,000 schools.
