Man Utd news: Man City hero Shaun Goater makes massive title claim ahead of derby

MANCHESTER CITY will prove it is a one-horse race for the Premier League title this season when they face rivals Manchester United on Sunday.

Man Utd news: Man City will show why it is a one-horse race for the title on Sunday, says Goater

That is the view of former Manchester City striker Shaun Goater.

City are currently eight points clear of second-placed Manchester United after 15 games of the league campaign.

Pep Guardiola’s side have won their last 13 and are unbeaten in all competitions this season.

United themselves are on an unbeaten run of 40 matches at Old Trafford, with City the last team to beat them there last season.

I think it is a one-horse race, I really do. For me, I think it will confirm that after the derby game

However, Goater has backed Manchester City to win the derby and show everyone why they are favourites to win the league for the first time under Guardiola.

“They play attractive football and Pep is trying everything to try to get that win, try and get that defining goal that ensures the win,” Goater told Sky Sports.

“Yes it is (a big gap). Truth be told, I think it is a one-horse race, I really do.

“For me, I think it will confirm that after the derby game.

Man Utd news: The Premier League title is Man City's to lose, says Goater

“Pep Guardiola will be saying to his players ‘there’s a lot of work to be done’, which is right, the league isn’t won now.

“But the work you’ve done now allows you to win the league.

“So they will not pay attention to the media and what people are saying but for me it’s a one-horse race.

“I think it’s for City to lose, as early as it is.”
