MANGALURU: Weeks ago, rationalist Prof Narendra Nayak had challenged Nityananda and his disciples to prove the powers of their “third eye” at a place of mutual consent.Prof Nayak, who is the president of the Federation of Indian Rationalist Associations (FIRA), was even willing to grant `5 lakh if Nityananda or his disciples passed the tests with “90 per cent” results. Prof Nayak who at the most was anticipating threats for posing the challenge got more than he bargained for.

Nityananda’s disciple Mahayogini Nithya Mahayogananda has retaliated by “cursing” Prof Nayak on her Facebook page. Not content with the curse, Mahayogini wrote on her Facebook wall: “For healing, kindly come to Swamiji, as it will be the only solution -- our address is at Bidadi, Bengaluru. There are enough hoardings on the highway to guide you. Kindly have yourself tested in 48 hours.’’

In the message posted on Facebook on November 26, Mahayogini claims to have cursed a  “serial guru abuser” by using her third eye and “gifting” a tumour in his brain. The “serial abuser” had sent a desperate message affirming that a hospital had indeed diagnosed tumour in his brain, she said. The message ends with a grim warning that Mahayogini is not generous with gifts given to those who make negative comments to her posts on the swamiji.

Prof Nayak, in a complaint emailed to DG and IGP Neelamani N Raju said Mahayogini’s Facebook message was both defamatory and a threat.“Nityananda and his cohorts are in the habit of threatening people with disease&violence. I decided to end it by filing a complaint to DG and IGP,’’ he said, adding there was no response from top police chief yet.
