Give foreign aid money to those who protect us from terrorists - EXPRESS COMMENT
THE usual suspects on the Left will be eager to criticise the security services for failing to prevent terrorist outrages in Manchester and London.
The families of the dead and injured will understandably feel anguish that their loved ones possibly need not have suffered.
But the harsh reality is that the blame for the bloodshed lies not with MI5 but with the wicked Islamic terrorists who carried out the attacks.
With hindsight it is easy for QC David Anderson’s report to conclude that flaws in surveillance and communication meant the killers were free to maim and murder but the security services and police face a near-impossible task with limited resources.
The report reveals that at any one time counter-terror teams are running about 500 live investigations involving 3,000 individuals – and 20,000 other suspects must be kept under review.

Our guardians are doing their absolute utmost to protect us
Yesterday the director general of MI5 told the Cabinet that nine Islamist terrorist plots have been thwarted in 2017.
Imagine that: nine Manchester Arenas, nine London Bridges or nine Westminsters.
Our guardians are doing their absolute utmost to protect us.
We owe them an enormous debt of gratitude.
One thing that would help would be more money – so give them a few billions from the wasteful overseas aid budget.
How many outrages might that prevent?

MISGUIDED people who condemn Brexit because it means we can control the free movement of people into our country should study the appalling case of the Romanian rapists.
GETTY
Freed from a French jail after committing a sex attack, they entered Britain unchecked and carried out a horrible rape in London.
That one case alone is justification for quitting the EU and its crazy open borders.
But this has been going on for years, with thousands of foreign criminals just strolling in and robbing or raping.
Then your taxes pay to keep these scum in prison.
SWNS
Taking back control cannot happen a moment too soon.
It is something all right-thinking people will welcome.

IT’S all very well for scientists to tell us smaller champagne bubbles taste and smell better – especially from an etched flute.
But honestly, who keeps bubbly in their hand long enough to notice?
What definitely does taste better than one glass is, of course, two.
