In late August, it emerged that the New York native failed a drug test ahead of his UFC 214 grudge match with Daniel Cormier, which he won in devastating fashion.

The screening, which was conducted after the official weigh-ins, .

Jones’ positive test has left his mixed martial arts career hanging on a knife-edge.

If the former UFC light-heavyweight champion is found guilty of intentionally taking the banned substance, he could be handed a four-year ban, a suspension which in all likelihood would prematurely bring down the curtain on his storied career.

News of Jones’ second failed drug test left many scratching their heads and caused several of his fans and fellow fighters to ask themselves the same question: Has Jon used performance-enhancing drugs throughout his career?

Regardless of if Jones is cleared of ingesting the Turanibol found in his system, his two anti-doping infringements have forever left an asterisk next to his name.

Jones’ latest career setback shocked many, including his fellow light-heavyweight Jimi Manuwa.

Manuwa is willing to forgive Jones for his past transgressions, which there are plenty of, but won’t let his latest drug scandal slide.

I don’t think I can forgive him for it

“When it comes to the UFC and fighting, it’s not a competition to see who is the best person or the best role model. It’s who the best fighter,” Manuwa told .

“So when people are getting in trouble outside of the ring, if it’s for like cocaine, drugs or partying or getting trouble in the police I can forgive people for that. Because everyone comes from different walks of life.

“All us fighters, we’re not all angels. But when you’re trying to cheat and enhance your performance, that’s when I’ve got a problem with it.”

“So with him failing another drug test, I don’t think I can forgive him for it. All the other stuff I can forgive him for because he’s a young guy and he’s the best fighter in the world. People make mistakes.

“But when you’re trying to cheat and enhance your performance, then that’s when I’ve got a problem with it.”

Manuwa, as well as many others, reckons Jones’ second failed drug test has ruined his legacy.

However, the Londoner believes ‘Bones’ can get the fans back on his side by winning a few fights when he returns from suspension.

“I think it should be (the end of his legacy). But who knows? Anything can happen in the UFC,” he added.

“People have got short memories. One minute you’re on top and then you lose a fight and that’s when everyone says you’re s**t.

“But I think if he comes back in a couple of years and has a couple of good wins he can probably win the crowd back over. Who knows, we’ll see."

Jones, 30, has not yet been banned for his positive test. A hearing into his doping case will be held in February.
