BHUBANESWAR: The Economic Offences Wing (EOW), Bhubaneswar, has arrested one Sashibhusan Das of Gedma under Nandipada police limits in Keonjhar district for duping small investors of lakhs by promising hefty returns. The EOW forwarded him to a local court on Tuesday.

Das was arrested from Bhadrak on Monday on the basis of a complaint lodged by one Prasanta Kumar Majhi of Eram under Basudevpur police limits in Bhadrak district in 2015. He had alleged that Dayanidhi Mohapatra, managing director of Tresty Securities Limited, and his company directors had collected crores of rupees from investors by promising good returns, but later closed the offices without paying the interest or the principal amounts.

A senior EOW official said Das was hand in glove with the directors of the company, which collected public deposits to the tune of Rs 10 crore and misappropriated the invested amount.

The team had arrested Dayanidhi Mohapatra, managing director of the company, and directors Arjun Panda and Rasmi Ranjan Mohapatra in November 2015.
