Pune: The Hinjewadi police on Tuesday arrested two persons for robbing a 27-year-old private employee of cash and cellphone collectively worth Rs29,680 on November 25.

Acting on a tip-off, a police team led by senior inspector Arun Waykar nabbed Gurudas Pawar (26) and Vijaykumar Saravade (28), both from Maangaon. The police have recovered Sidharth Ghosh's cellphone from the duo.

On November 25 around 7pm, Ghosh was returning home on his bike when the bike-borne robbers intercepted him near Phase-II of the Rajiv Gandhi IT Park in Hinjewadi. "They accused him of deliberately brushing his bike against theirs. They threatened him and snatched his cellphone," Assistant inspector G J Dhamane told TOI.

One of the suspects sifted his pocket and found a debit card and Rs180 in it. The duo then took Ghosh to a nearby ATM and forced him to withdraw Rs11,500, Dhamane said.

Ghosh did not contact the police immediately and only after discussing the matter with his colleagues, he came to lodge a complaint on Tuesday.

The Hinjewadi police swung into action and based on Ghosh's description, the team arrested the duo late on Tuesday night.

Ghosh works in a Hinjewadi-based company and stays in Muktainagar in Hinjewadi as a paying guest.
