Liverpool news: Ian Wright makes Mo Salah Player of the Season claim

LIVERPOOL star Mohamed Salah is the standout player of the season so far, according to Ian Wright.

Mohamed Salah has been outstanding for Liverpool this term

Salah, who joined Liverpool in a £36.9million deal from Roma over the summer, is the Premier League’s top scorer with 12 goals to his name.

While the Reds’ defence has been shaky, the Egypt international has helped strike fear into opposing teams.

And while acknowledging the talents of Manchester City’s Kevin De Bruyne and Chelsea winger Eden Hazard, Wright is in no doubt about the impact of Salah.

“De Bruyne is amazing and I love Eden [Hazard],” Wright told Sky Sports’ The Debate Show.

For me this season right now, Mo [Salah] is electrifying

Ian Wright

“For me this season right now, Mo [Salah] is electrifying.

“The way he’s come back from Chelsea to Roma and back here and the way he’s playing.

“When you looked at the start of the season, he missed some good chances.

Ian Wright thinks Mohamed Salah should win Player of the Season

“He’s taken them on more now and he’s getting better every game.

“He pips De Bruyne for me at the moment.”

Liverpool, who have climbed into the top four, are in Champions League action against Spartak Moscow tonight (7.45pm).
