A wildfire that started in Southern California’s Ventura County on Monday night grew to 50 thousand acres on Tuesday.

Authorities said it destroyed dozens of homes and buildings.

More than 27 thousand people have been forced to evacuate from the path of the encroaching Thomas fire, and more evacuations possible.

According to the Los Angeles Times, at least 150 buildings have been damaged by the fire, including an apartment complex and a psychiatric hospital..
