Chandigarh: A fortnight after a woman was allegedly gang raped by an auto rickshaw driver and two co-passengers in Chandigarh, a married woman was allegedly gang raped by another auto rickshaw driver and two of his friends in Hisar on Monday evening.

The rape survivor, who runs a beauty parlour in Hisar, was on her way home in a village on the outskirts of Hisar.

Haryana inspector general of police, Crimes Against Women, Mamta Singh confirmed one of the accused, who has confessed to his crime, has been arrested. The police is working to arrest the other two culprits in the case. The man who has been arrested will be produced in the court on Wednesday.

"We have completed all the formalities and the survivor has been counselled," said Singh.

According to FIR, the survivor, who is in her mid-20s, boarded an auto rickshaw after finishing her work. Five other passengers boarded the auto with her.

Three passengers alighted at Chhota Satrod. Instead of taking the auto rickshaw towards her destination, the survivor said the driver took a turn and drove towards unlit lanes of a foot over-bridge, on the pretext of taking a short cut.

She alleged after going into the lane, the auto driver forced himself on her. Later, two of his friends already in the auto also joined him. After raping her for a couple of hours, the three accused abandoned her near Gate Number 2 of the Hisar Cantonment.

She informed her husband on reaching home and the couple approached the Women's Police Station where the case was registered. After registration of the case, the survivor was sent for medical examinations and her statement was recorded before an executive magistrate.
