The disappearance mystery of the national spokesperson of Akhil Bhartiya Akhada Parishad (ABAP),the apex body of the sects of the ascetics-Mahant Mohan Das, has taken a new twist after the ADG law and order Ashok Kumar said that the seer had gone into seclusion of his own accord. The statement of the senior police officer has taken all, including the seers of Bada Udaseen Akhada with which the missing seer is associated, by surprise. Notably, the head of ABAP Narendra Giri had said a few days after Das had gone missing that he was getting threatening calls since ABAP had issued the list of the fake sadhus.
Asked to comment on the statement of the senior police officer regarding Das’s disappearance mystery, Giri said on Tuesday that they could not do anything in case the seer had gone into seclusion on his own. It is, however, learnt that the apex body would select its new spokesperson soon at the meeting expected to be held later this month.
Das had gone missing while heading for Mumbai for his medical check- up on September 15 following which Kankhal police, CIU, STF, SIT and Uttar Pradesh police have been trying to trace the missing seer in many states outside Uttarakhand like Uttar Pradesh, Delhi and Maharashtra and questioning the suspects, including some realtors and seers, to get some clues to unravel the mystery.
Speaking to the media persons here on Sunday evening on the sidelines of a programme, ADG law and order said that the probe revealed that the seer had gone missing according to a plan. “We left no stone unturned to trace him, but it seems now that he has left the ashram of his own volition as per a plan,” he said. However, he did not disclose under what circumstances the seer had gone and also about his present whereabouts.
The statement has sparked speculations as the special investigation team (SIT), formed to probe the case, has started questioning some seers while keeping the property angle in view.
“The probe would now take a new turn as it would get focused on the reasons why the seer has secluded himself from the ashram he is associated for years in the aftermath of the senior police officer’s statement,” said an observer.
