Liverpool news: Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand reveals LOVE for Reds
MANCHESTER UNITED legend Rio Ferdinand has risked the wrath of Red Devils fans by admitting he loves Liverpool’s infamous anthem “You’ll Never Walk Alone”.
Ferdinand played at Anfield on numerous occasions during his career at rivals Manchester United.
The BT Sport panel were discussing whether the pre-match song and atmosphere would have a negative effect on opposition players.
But Ferdinand says it just motivated him to go onto the pitch and try to “shut up” the Liverpool fans.
“No I actually loved it,” Ferdinand said of You’ll Never Walk Alone.
“You go there and you respect it and you appreciate it.

“But you go out there, ready to go out there, and be like ‘I want to shut that mob up’. That’s more how we felt.”
Chelsea hero Frank Lampard says it gets easier to play at Anfield the more times you go there.
“It’s unrivalled in a sense in terms of atmosphere on a night like this,” he said ahead of Liverpool’s Champions League clash with Spartak Moscow tonight.

“I’m not sure Spartak Moscow will rise to it. We were used to playing that game a lot but I’m not sure they’ll rise to it, we’ll see.”
Former Liverpool striker Michael Owen says hearing the song filled him with pride when he was playing for the Reds.
“The pride of listening to your anthem, going out there and knowing the history I suppose of the club,” Owen said.
“Unbelievable Champions League nights, European nights in general. So I think it’s great pride and there’s nothing quite like a European night at Anfield.”
