HYDERABAD: As Rahul Gandhi’s elevation to the party’s national president is a mere formality, some Congress senior leaders in Telangana are hopeful of a revamp in the party’s top bodies — Congress Working Committee and All India Congress Committee — and are pitching their candidature with party national leadership. The party leadership, on the other hand, secured a list of aspirants and are looking into various equations like caste, seniority and experience, to fill up the berths at the national and state level. The revamp will happen after Gujarat elections.

According to highly placed sources in TPCC, Rahul Gandhi might revamp the structure of the party organisation and will induct a couple of leaders from the State in his team. For the berth in the CWC, names of senior leaders former Union minister S Jaipal Reddy and sitting Lok Sabha MP from Nagarkurnool Nandi Yellaiah are under consideration. While Jaipal Reddy is considered close to AICC chairperson Sonia Gandhi, Nandi Yellaiah hails from SC community and is a sixth time MP.

The party high command is also likely to induct three leaders from TS in AICC. Sources said that names of former Rajya Sabha MP V Hanumantha Rao, hailing from BC community, and former Union minister Sarve Satyanarayana (SC) are being considered for AICC general secretary post.
For AICC secretary post, names of former MP Madhu Yashki Goud and of two other leaders are under consideration, source said.

TPCC to replicate Gujarat, Karnataka model
Congress high command is mulling to replicate Gujarat and Karnataka models for creating more than one post for working president. In Gujarat Congress, there are four working president posts while in Karnataka, there are two which would facilitate the party to include more leaders based on caste and other equations.

“There is only one working president post now and it is likely that two more posts will be created,’’ source said. Out of the two, one will be given to a BC leader and two leaders from the city, former minister Danam Nagender and former MP Anjan Kumar Yadav, apart from former Karimnagar MP Ponnam Prabhakar and another leader Dr Vinay are being considered for the post.

Revanth, Vijayashanti and Azharuddin to get posts
The high command will also be accommodating Kodangal MLA A Revanth Reddy, who recently joined the party from TDP, and also former MP and actor-turned-politician Vijayashanthi and cricketer-turned-politician Mohd Azharuddin into the TPCC
